Abraham Lincoln The Greatest President Of All Times

Often hailed as the greatest president of all times, Abraham Lincoln was a strong Presidential leader who is known for his honest ways. He was President during one of the worst wars in American history and was a great leader for our military. Abraham Lincoln helped to abolish slavery. He was shot down in the prime of his life and term of President by John Wilkes Booth. President Lincoln’s contributions to the American society will never be forgotten. On a February morning in 1809 Abraham Lincoln was born, to Thomas and Nancy Lincoln. Thomas was a hard worker, providing for his family, while his mother Nancy was quiet and very religious. Abraham’s mother died in 1818 due to an epidemic called â€Å"milk Sick†. Thomas Lincoln remarried Sally Bush and Abraham showed a great kindness towards her, and often referred to her as his â€Å"angel mother.† (1) Sally Bush gave Abraham Lincoln a desire to learn. Deciding to be a lawyer, on September 9, 1836 he received his license to practice law. Lincoln practiced law for 20 years and was one of the most distinguished and successful lawyers. (2.) His interest in public issues pushed him to run for public office. In 1854 he was elected to the House of Representatives. (3) Abraham Lincoln and Marry Todd became engaged in 1840; however Lincoln broke this engagement in 1841. For reasons that were unknown Lincoln suffered Melancholy and this is why he broke the engagement.
